Last evening my wife came in from the deck and said, “there is a turkey gobbling out here”. I went out on the deck to confirm what she had said. I soon hear the gobble she was talking about. Bad weather was predicted for our area and you could hear thunder, and every time it would thunder the turkey would gobble. Since our season doesn’t start for another week (youth season). I decided to get up early in the morning and observe this gobbler from a distance. Hoping to pattern him for opening day. The next morning my alarm went off at 05:45 and I pressed snooze on rolled over and went back to sleep. I was a victim of getting up early too many mornings in a row, and not taking a nap I am not your average turkey hunter; I get up and get out every morning (except for today) because I love it. The takeaway here is “don’t burn yourself out” especially when the season is not in yet. Get your beauty sleep!
